In this Jubilee Year of the Bank it is particularly appropriate to pay tribute to colleagues who have devoted the whole of their working
life to the Bank, and have made their full contribution to the present day stature of the Bank.
The Bank has several such officers
still serving, but one less on the 28th February when Mr. N. L. Newcombe retired. Neville joined the Staff in May 1924, less than
five years after the Bank was established, and he was appointed a Manager in 1947.
Neville has always maintained attributes of
enthusiasm and loyalty, but the last years of his service, spent as Manager of Solihull Branch, called for even more special qualities.
The people of Solihull appreciated him as their Branch Manager, and that he maintained a thriving Branch there, in spite of the many
rival Banks and Building Societies on his doorstep is evidence enough of his charm and good humour with which all his friends and
colleagues are familiar.
