Alf Morgan, one of our senior managers, retired at the end of December having completed 44½ years' service with the Bank.
I met
up with Alf for our last 3 years of schooling at what was then known as the Aston Commercial School where he was a brilliant scholar
and an all-round sportsman - cricket, perhaps, being his favourite game. In this respect he became a very useful member of the Bank
cricket team.
Like many of his contempories he was "involved" in World War Two and served with distinction in the Army.
A
quiet, unassuming but strong-willed individual, Alf was always admired and respected by his many colleagues with whom he came into
contact as he moved from Branch to Branch - mostly on the eastern side of the City.
A proud grandfather now, we wish him, with
his charming wife Eileen, a long and happy retirement.
