Annual Reports - 1929
The Annual Reports for the year-ended March 31st 1929 continued to emphasise the growth of the Bank
in terms of both the total amount of deposits and the extension of the branch network. During the year, total deposits reached £10
million and four new permanent branches were opened - as a consequence, there were now 33 permanent branches in a total of 48. Proposals
for a new set of Regulations (eventually passed as the Birmingham Municipal Bank Regulations, 1929) are detailed, the main purposes
of this new legislation being to allow depositors to withdraw up to £30 on demand at any branch, and to allow the Bank to administer
mortgage accounts more efficiently.
