CONTACT - Christmas 1968:

The past season has been a fairly successful one. The Guild Trophy was retained once more; the Cup is now in our possession for the third year running. Our scores were as follows:-

N WILCOX - 69

K HASLAM - 73

H TURNER - 76

H G PAYNE - 76

TOTAL - 294

MEB were runners up with 301.

Other matches were played against:-

NATIONAL PROVINCIAL BANK - Lost 4-1, 1 halved

LLOYDS BANK - Won 3-2

A medal was held at Kings Norton in early May, the winner being H Turner with N Wilcox runner up. The match against GPO was rained off.

The Annual Outing was held at Llandrindod Wells on Sunday, 15th September. Although the weather was dry, the Medal was played in a very high wind which made the hilly course very difficult. The competitors who took part enjoyed the experience and have expressed the desire to hold the Medal at Llandrindod next year. The winner was H G Payne with a net 79 and H Turner was runner up with a net 80.

The Presidents Cup has been won by H G Payne who beat A Reed in the final. The presentation will take place at the Annual Dinner to be held early next February.

I would like to express my thanks to the Football Club Pontoon for making the grant of funds available to the Golf Section through the Staff Association. Without help, it would be impossible to run competitions.
