Report for the year ended 31st October 1950
Your Committee report that during the Association year 1949/50 they arranged two Whist Drives, one Bridge Drive, two Theatre Parties, one Children's Christmas Party, one New Year's Party, a Dance, a Handicraft and Arts Exhibition, a Concert, two Golf Tournaments, a Tennis Tournament, two Bowls Matches and an Annual Outing.
Numerous visits have been made, and presents taken, to sick members of Staff.
This year we have suffered the loss by the sudden death of Donard Whetnall. Don did much good work for the staff as Secretary of the old Staff Committee, and greatly helped in the formation of our present Association. Expressions of sympathy have been sent to Mrs Whetnall in her bereavement.
Matters of interest and concern to the Staff have been discussed with the General Manager, who has given us his consideration and help when able.
We are indebted to the General Manager and the Bank Committee for the use, when needed, of the Assembly Hall without charge. We express our thanks for this privilege. We also wish to express our pleasure that they have been able to accept invitations to be present at and take part in some of our social activities.
Our thanks are due to Miss R M Brown for her help and co-operation in all social events; to the typists and copyists for the work they have done; to Mr N G Yardley and the Staff in his Department for help in connection with subscriptions and to Mr C B Coney for his service as Hon Auditor. We thank them all, together with those numerous members and others who have helped when there has been need.
At the 31st October 1949 the membership was 226; at the 31st October 1950 it was 242.
C H Massey, Chairman.
