Annual Reports - 1923

The Bank's Committee are able to report continued growth of funds (now approaching 3 million) against a background of continuing unemployment. Despite the economic situation, loans for the purchase of houses are still in demand, but there is reference to cases of arrears being closely monitored. There has been considerable activity regarding the opening of permanent branches, and details are given of the opening of six new permanent offices. Information is provided regarding a new site for the branch in Erdington, but in due course, a purpose built branch is constructed at a different location. Home Safes are introduced, which are to prove to be a very popular method of accumulating small savings. J P Hilton is now named as the Bank's General Manager, his designation having been amended from 'Manager'.
