Thomas Albert Edward Wilner joined the Bank Staff in May 1925, and retired in September 1971. So he served his employers faithfully
for over 46 years, and was rewarded by steady progress from Junior Clerk to Head Office Superintendent. The only digression during
these long years was his war service with the RAOC from 1942 to 1946.
Despite his advancement Bert never lost his friendly approach;
in fact the one quality I shall always remember him for his gentle gentlemanliness. The older Bank Staff, mostly now happily retired,
will recall "Gentleman Ted Viney", one of the first good Staff Golfers. I have always regarded an affinity between these two men,
Bert and Ted. They both adorned their profession and sport.
Mr and Mrs Wilner have been fortunate in their marriage and their
two fine children are now blessing them with grandchildren. Latest score 5, so they will have much to occupy their increased leisure
hours.
The Bank has lost a stalwart, but the retired section of Kings Norton Golf Club has gained a good companion. We wish both
Bert and his wife a long and happy retirement.
