The death occurred at Great Missenden on 4th March of Harry Wright in his 89th year.
H.G. as he was known to his colleagues,
after 24 years' service with the Water Department, joined the Bank when it first opened on 1st September 1919 and was appointed Manager
of the Small Heath Branch. In 1924 he was appointed Superintendent of Branches and, in 1928, Controller, the position he held until
he retired in July, 1940.
Always interested in sport, particularly cricket, billiards and snooker - he was a skilled player of
billiards and snooker right up to his retirement - his Bank duties covered many spheres, including advertising, opening of new Branches
and the organisation of the Staff Annual Dinners.
H.G. is survived by his wife and three daughters, one of whom, Margaret, was
a member of the Staff for a number of years.
