It is with deep regret I have to record the death, at the age of 52, of Mr. K. R. Willingham, my friend and colleague for many years. He died suddenly at his home, 43 Carless Avenue, Harborne, on the 20th October, 1962.
Roy joined the Staff on the 20th September, 1926, and has served at many Branches as clerk, cashier and finally Branch Manager, a post he has hold for several years. At the time of his death he was manager of Saltley Branch.
Roy was a studious person, quietly spoken and gentle in his manner. He could speak five languages. His hobbies were collecting books and old manuscripts - he had a library of over 2,000 books and an original manuscript dated 1762. He also did book-binding and printing, played the organ and composed music and was interested in photography. For a short period he was secretary of the Birmingham Municipal Photographic Club until forced to resign because of his Mother's illness. Ho also studied History and Philosophy.
His many friends on the Staff will miss his quiet and kindly manner and to me and my family the loss is irreplaceable. We all join in sending our sincere sympathy to his widow, Dorothy.
