In addition to the various sporting and rambling activities that formed part of the early Bank's social activities, the Minutes of the Staff Socials Committee show that a programme of other types of social activities was developed. Two of the most popular type of events were Dances and the Annual Outing. All these activities were curtailed with the outbreak of the Second World War, but the formation of the Bank's Staff Association in 1947 quickly led to the resumption of social events. The Circular to Staff reproduced below, gives details of an Annual Outing arranged soon after the Staff Association was formed.
